Ophase & Ofahrt
For orientation purposes, the student council offers two events. These are the Ophase at the beginning of the winter semester and the Ofahrt in the first month of the summer semester. The Ophase is organized for both bachelor and master students in the winter semester. In the summer semester, it is only offered to master students. We explain the details in the following.
Ophase
The Orientation Week / Phase (Ophase) is organized by the student council to provide first-year students with an easy introduction to their studies. During this week there are various lectures and introductory events as well as social activities. Here you can get to know other students and Darmstadt. You will also learn everything that is important for an easy start to your studies. Of course, you will also be shown how to set up accounts, the student mailbox and how to use the central campus portal. Since certain knowledge is also helpful in later studies, the student council offers a series of workshops in which you can learn, for example, LaTeX or git (for Bachelor students).
Furthermore, there is the registration. This is not required, but you help us to plan the Ophase better, and it is useful for you, because we can better inform you about changes and further information.

The O(rientierungs)fahrt is the first semester trip of the student council at the TU Darmstadt at the beginning of the summer semester. The goal of the Ofahrt is to continue to establish contacts between the new students and to give them the opportunity to exchange ideas about common interests in various workshops.
The next Ofahrt took place from May 3 to 5, 2024. During the registration for the Ophase you can express interest and receive further information. Usually, the Ofahrt takes place on the Starkenburg near Heppenheim (about 30km south of Darmstadt). The participation costs include accommodation, meals and program and amounted to 30€ last time.
