University groups

University is mostly about learning. However, if you want to work on self-directed, larger projects, you have several options. On the one hand, you can take on projects on your own, but this is often a bit tedious. On the other hand, you can get together with other peers. Here you don't necessarily have to find a group of like-minded people, but you can join a university group that is in your field of interest. On this page some of these groups introduce themselves, which could be of interest to you. There is also the umbrella organization "Vereinigung der Universitätsgruppen der TU Darmstadt e.V.", in which many of the TU's university groups are involved.

University groups related to computer science

In this list you will find a compilation of university groups that have a larger computer science portion and could therefore be particularly interesting for you. Besides these, there are numerous others, for which we have linked an overview below.

TUDSaT

TUDSaT is a student club with over 150 members divided into two projects: TRACE is a 2U CubeSat which will improve space safety using retro reflectors and laser ranging technology. Rapid is the association's rocketry project which aims to partake at EuRoC in Portugal, Europe's biggest academic rocketry event. Both teams have one thing in common: They come to life thanks to motivated students directly here at TU Darmstadt!

Sailing Team

"Technology learns to sail": That is the motto of the Sailing Team Darmstadt. Since 2008, we have been developing sailing boats that are designed to cross the Atlantic unmanned and energy self-sufficient. Autonomous sailing poses new challenges that require innovative and creative solutions. To this end, we work together in interdisciplinary teams that deal with tasks in the areas of energy supply, course finding, electronics, control engineering, mechanics, organization, software and much more.
